Wall types we work with
Wall material, framing and surface condition decide the anchoring method — and they affect the price. Not every surface is a good place for a TV, and we'll say so when that's the case.
Drywall over wood framing
The most common setup. We locate framing and anchor into studs wherever the placement allows, rather than relying on drywall anchors for the TV's weight.
Drywall over metal framing
Found in some condos, offices and newer builds. Metal studs need different fasteners and sometimes a different mount position, so it is worth flagging if you know that's what you have.
Plaster and lath
Common in older homes. Plaster is brittle and the wood lath behind it is not structural, so we look for the framing behind and work carefully to avoid cracking the surface.
Brick and masonry
Mountable in many cases with the right anchors, but it takes longer and the fixings are permanent. Solid brick, veneer and block all behave differently, so we want a clear photo first.
Tile, stone and specialty surfaces
These need additional review before we commit. Drilling tile or stone carries real risk of cracking, and what is behind the surface matters as much as the surface itself.

TVs over fireplaces
It's the single most common question we get about mounting, and the honest answer is that it depends on the fireplace. Some are straightforward. Some need a different plan. We review the setup before quoting rather than after starting, and we look at:
- What the mounting surface actually is — drywall, stone veneer, solid masonry or a finished mantel wall
- What framing or solid material sits behind it to carry the load
- Clearances around the firebox and mantel
- Heat exposure above a working fireplace, which varies a lot by unit and setup
- Where power and signal cables can and cannot run
- Viewing height, which is often higher over a fireplace than is comfortable to watch
Send a clear photo of the whole fireplace wall plus your TV and mount model, and follow your TV and fireplace manufacturers' own guidance on heat and clearances. If the setup isn't a good fit, we'll tell you and suggest an alternative wall.
Cable management options
Surface raceway
A paintable channel that runs the cables down the wall neatly without opening it up. Fast, reversible and works on almost any wall type.
In-wall low-voltage concealment
HDMI and other low-voltage cables can be routed inside the wall where the wall construction and cable run make that appropriate. We check before promising it.
Power is a separate question
Installing or relocating an electrical outlet behind the TV is not ordinary handyman work and may require a properly licensed North Carolina electrician. We will tell you plainly when that is the case.
What we will not do
We will not run a TV power cord or an extension cord inside a wall. If the goal is a fully hidden power lead, that is an electrical scope, not a cable-tidy scope.
What can change the price
Service visits start at $149 for this task on its own. We price standard jobs by the task, with a $149 minimum service visit. Add other standard tasks to the same visit and their starting prices are added together — you get the final number before work begins.

TV mounting questions
- Do you supply the mount?
- Either way works. Most people buy the mount that matches their TV and we install it. If you'd rather not choose, tell us the TV size and model and we'll include a suitable mount in the quote.
- Can you mount a TV over a fireplace?
- Sometimes. It depends on the mounting surface, what's behind it, clearances, heat exposure and whether the resulting viewing height is comfortable. Send a full photo of the fireplace wall and we'll tell you honestly whether it's a good idea before quoting.
- Can you mount on brick or plaster?
- Often yes, with the right anchors and extra time. Brick, veneer, block and plaster all behave differently, and the fixings are permanent, so we want a clear photo of the surface before committing.
- Can you hide the wires?
- Yes, either with a paintable surface raceway or, where the wall and cabling make it appropriate, by routing low-voltage cables inside the wall. Power cords never go in the wall.
- Can you install an outlet behind the TV?
- New or relocated outlets go beyond ordinary handyman work and may require a properly licensed North Carolina electrician. We'll say so up front and handle the mounting and low-voltage side.
- Can you mount a soundbar during the same visit?
- Yes. Soundbars, small component shelves and basic device setup are easy to add — just include them in the request so the visit is scoped correctly.
- What if I already have an old mount on the wall?
- We can remove the old mount and TV and patch the holes where practical. Mention it in the request so the time is included.
- How do I know what mount to buy?
- Match it to your TV's screen size, weight and VESA hole pattern, then pick fixed, tilt or full-motion based on how much you want to move the screen. Send us the TV model if you'd like a second opinion before you buy.
- What happens if the wall is not suitable?
- We tell you before drilling. Sometimes it means a different position on the same wall, sometimes a different mount, and occasionally it means the wall isn't the right place for that TV. You won't get a surprise after the fact.
